VISA & RESIDENCY
A visa and residency are not the same procedure.
Some routes begin at a consulate and continue before immigration authorities in the Dominican Republic. We coordinate both stages when the final objective includes residency.

Which visa do I need for the Dominican Republic?
It depends on the real purpose of travel. Tourism, study, employment, business, dependency and residence use different categories and should not be treated interchangeably.
Does a visa allow permanent residence?
Not by itself. A visa authorizes entry or stay under a specific category. When settlement is the objective, the process may continue with the General Directorate of Migration.
Can a Dominican visa be renewed inside the country?
The DGM states that Dominican visas must be renewed through the Dominican consulate in the country of origin, or the nearest consulate when none is available there.
How long does the application take?
MIREX publishes a general response period of 10 to 20 business days for its visa service. Actual timing may vary by category, consulate and review requirements.
Do foreign records need an apostille and translation?
Some civil records, police certificates and supporting evidence must be legalized or apostilled. Documents not in Spanish may require an accepted translation.
Do flights or hotel reservations guarantee approval?
No. Reservations do not replace eligibility or supporting evidence. The consular authority reviews the file and retains the decision on the application.
